Congressman Wittman released this note to constituents about protecting the symbols and traditions of Christmas:
If you’re like me, you love this time of year. And with Christmas right around the corner, I wanted to update you on some of the work I’ve been doing to keep the Christmas spirit we grew up with alive. After all, Christmas is a wonderful time of year and we should allow for our children’s children to experience the joys of Christmas—just as we did!
That is why I co-sponsored H.Res.647, a resolution aimed at expressing the House’s desire to protect the symbols and traditions of Christmas. This resolution recognizes the importance of Christmas symbols and traditions, expresses support for the use of these symbols, and disapproves of any attempts to ban references to Christmas. I’m proud to attach my name to this resolution because I believe that H.Res.647 reinforces what I’ve long believed—that Christmas needs to be protected.
As the weather continues to get colder and the Christmas festivities begin to heat up, please know I will keep fighting to keep the spirit of Christmas alive.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me anytime an issue that concerns you comes before the House.
It’s an honor to serve you and Virginia’s First District in the People’s House.
