Bob Watson was elected 1st District Chairman on September 9, 2017. He was subsequently re-elected in January 2018 for a two-year term. He has served on the State Central Committee since 2015, and is a member of the Prince William County Republican Committee where he has served as a Precinct Captain for the past 5 years.

Bob retired from the Army as a colonel after 25 years of service as an intelligence officer. He is a highly decorated veteran who began his career as a paratrooper at Fort Bragg, NC. He later served in Desert Shield (Saudi Arabia), Desert Storm (Saudi Arabia), and Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq) during three deployments. His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Legion of Merit (2), Bronze Star (2), and the Meritorious Service Medal (4). Throughout his career, Bob served in a variety of staff and command positions in the Continental United States, Hawaii, Germany, and Japan. Bob is now a national security consultant for a Fortune 500 company in McLean, VA.

Bob is a graduate of Furman University, where he earned a B.A. Degree in Political Science. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Bob has been married for 27 years; he and his wife have one son, who is a senior in college.
