Wittman Strengthening Rural Health Care in Virginia

Message from Rob:

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Every Virginian deserves access to quality health care, regardless of where they live.

For families in many parts of Virginia’s First District, that means ensuring rural hospitals and clinics remain stable, state-of-the-art, and are able to provide the care their communities depend on.

That’s why I supported creating the Rural Health Transformation Program.

This historic initiative invests up to $50 billion nationwide to strengthen rural hospitals, modernize health care infrastructure, expand access to providers, and improve patient outcomes.

Because of this effort, Virginia will receive nearly $190 million in 2026 to support rural health care across the Commonwealth.

I was also proud to join my Virginia colleagues in advocating for Virginia’s successful application for this funding because I believe investing in rural health care means investing in healthier communities.

At the same time, I’m continuing to support efforts to expand telehealth services, connect rural patients with specialists, improve veterans’ mental health services, and increase access to innovative treatments closer to home.

Health care shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code.

Whether you live on the Northern Neck, the Middle Peninsula, or in one of our growing suburban communities, you deserve access to affordable, high-quality care.

I’ll continue working to strengthen rural hospitals, lower costs, increase transparency, and ensure Virginia families have greater access to the care they need.

Thank you for the privilege of serving you.

Sincerely,

Rob Wittman

Member of Congress, Virginia’s 1st District
