Note from Rob Wittman:
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I want to be clear about where I stand on government-run health care and what I am doing to support rural providers.
I do not believe Washington should decide what type of health care Americans have access to, when they receive it, or how much it costs. Patients and doctors — not politicians and bureaucrats — are best equipped to make those decisions.
Expanding federal command and control over health care would lead to less innovation, fewer medical breakthroughs, higher costs, and reduced access to care. It would also place enormous financial burdens on taxpayers while concentrating more power in Washington.
My approach is different. I believe in a health care system that expands choice, encourages innovation, lowers costs through competition, and protects access for seniors, veterans, families, and rural communities without surrendering control to Washington.
I am working with my colleagues in Congress on advancing practical reforms that lower health care costs and protect access for Virginians. That includes strengthening rural hospitals and clinics, expanding access to early detection and innovative treatments, supporting veterans’ mental health services, improving telehealth options, and empowering families with more choice and control over their health care dollars. I will continue pushing policies that reduce bureaucracy, promote transparency, and put patients — not Washington — at the center of our health care system.
When it comes to investing in rural health care, I supported the creation of the Rural Health Transformation Program — which invests up to $50 billion to expand and modernize rural healthcare access. Through the Rural Health Transformation Program, Virginia will receive $189,544,888 in 2026. This money will offset the financial burdens facing rural hospitals and strengthen care for Virginians, no matter where they live.
Last year, I joined Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02), Congressman John McGuire (VA-05), Congressman Ben Cline (VA-06), and Congressman Morgan Griffith (VA-09) in sending a letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) CMS in support of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Rural Health Transformation Program application. I am pleased to have been able to secure this historic investment in Virginia’s rural health institutions — further prioritizing the use of new and emerging technologies to improve patient outcomes.
More patient choice, lower costs, and greater access. These are the principles guiding my work, and they will continue to guide every health care decision I make in Congress.
Sincerely,

Rob Wittman
