Rob’s message to the 1st District after the State of the Union speech:
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The State of the Union is an opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come and the work that remains.
Just three years ago, inflation was at 6.4 percent. Today, it stands near 2.4 percent. Job creation has strengthened, border crossings have plummeted, and our economy is growing again. These improvements did not happen by accident; they are the result of pro-growth, pro-worker policies supported by President Trump and Congressional Republicans.
But families in Virginia’s First District still tell me the same thing: “We need more relief.”
That is why we are doubling down on affordability.
Homeownership & Economic Security
We are working to reduce barriers to homeownership, expand housing supply, and protect American property from foreign speculation. We are also pushing to eliminate the death tax entirely – giving farmers, ranchers, and small business owners peace of mind that they can pass their life’s work to the next generation.
Healthcare Transparency & Competition
We passed major reforms to increase oversight of prescription drug middlemen and are advancing policies that require hospitals and insurers to publish real, comparable prices. When markets function transparently, costs come down.
Additionally, we are fighting to pass legislation that stabilizes insurance markets and lowers premiums for families and employers.
Energy Independence Means Lower Prices
Energy affordability is central to everything else. By rescinding costly mandates, opening domestic energy production, and streamlining permitting, we are working to reduce the regulatory burden that drives up costs for consumers.
Energy independence strengthens our national security — and your household budget.
The American people entrusted Republicans with governing majorities to deliver real results. We cannot squander that opportunity. My focus remains on practical, commonsense solutions that strengthen our economy, protect taxpayers, and ensure Virginia families can thrive.
The state of our Union is strong, but we must continue the work of restoring affordability, accountability, and opportunity for every American.
It is an honor to represent you.
Sincerely,

Rob Wittman
Member of Congress, Virginia’s 1st District
